February Highlights

It’s the coldest month of the year and the shortest. Make the most of it with these up-coming events in February. Kick off the month with some culture and visit the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center  (LPAC) in LIC with the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company celebration on Feb. 1st 8pm Mainstage Theater. Enjoy colorful dragons, ethnic dance and music.  On Feb 5th the LPAC hosts a free open mic night starting at 7pm. Feeling cool? Warm up with a Hot Yoga charity event at the Yoga Room in Astoria Feb 2nd $10 donation at 4:30-5pm. Take a guided tour of the Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing Meadows on Feb. 2nd or learn all about composting on Feb 10th. Experimental percussionist and composer Susie Ibarra performs at the Noguchi Museum February 10, 2008. Every Wednesday evening Cafe Waltz in Astoria offers a Jazz workshop at 6pm.Then stick around for drinks and an open mic session starting at 8pm. In the mood to shop but don’t have the moo-la? Check out the New York Housing Works Thrift Shop warehouse event on the second Saturday of the month- Feb 9th. Fill an entire bag of goodies for just $20 before the items go out to the retail stores. Feeling like you want to get in touch with your feminine side? Check out PS1‘s opening celebration. Feb 17th WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution 12-8pm If classical music is your thing, Astoria Music Society performs in Manhattan on Feb 23rd 8pmat the Judson Memorial Church 55 Washington SQ South.
